Happy Thanksgiving!

As Thanksgiving approaches I just want to say "thanks" to all my loyal customers and fans. I am thankful for you all. Fall Mini Sessions went great and I am now looking forward to Santa Photos. This weekend I photographed a beautiful wedding in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and then was able to celebrate an early Thanksgiving with my extended family. It's a busy, busy season and I'm working hard to get everyone their photos as soon as I can!

Safe Travels and a happy holiday.

Great Connections

A great thing about taking pictures has been all the creative people I've met and connections I've made. The most recent being a great designer whose taken some of my photos and created awesome cards with them. I'm excited to give my clients this new option with their photos. I've posted a couple of samples for you to check out. If you'd like more information on purchasing her designs she will have a display with information at the Santa Photo Sessions at Lighthouse Academy and I'll also be posting some information on facebook in the future.

And speaking of Santa photos, don't forget to book yours today! VIP spots are filling fast. Facebook has all the details for the December 3, 4 and 5th event!

Can't wait!

Santa is on his way!!

Where have I been??? That's the question I've been hearing. So here it is.... I've done 22 mini-sessions and have 22 more this weekend. There's been some new life and I've captured it in baby and maternity shoots over the past couple weeks, as well as doing about 8 Senior Photo shoots. Thanks to all the parents and staff at Lighthouse Academy (Yorkville) and God's Gifts Pre-School (Oswego) who have let me take their children's pre-school photos these past few weeks. It's been awesome getting to know some new kids this way and to photograph some new Oswego families.

I've been anxious to share a lot of my recent work with you all, but I'm trying to be a little secretive with it just so that client's can use things for Christmas Cards and gifts. I want everyone to have their families be surprised and excited to see the images.

And then there is the fact that Santa is on his way and I'm preparing. Last week Santa popped in to say hi at my house and he's as excited as I am for this year's shoot. The schedule for Santa photos is out on facebook, so check it out and become a fan of my page while you are there. The photos are a great idea for your Christmas Cards or a gift. New and Funky

These past few days have been a whirlwind of photo shoots. I've done a wedding, 17 mini shoots, a few engagement shoots, and several seniors all in 3 days. Wow! At the end of all that you start wondering if you can still pull something new out of your hat. Tonight I'm going through hundreds upon hundreds (okay, let's be honest, it's thousands) of photos sorting through it all. And what I'm finding is that through all that I did it again. I gave my clients new and different. And I like it! I hope they do too! For now I'll keep editing, because I can't wait to share the rest with you all.

To all my clients out there-You Rock!

Don't put it off....

Today I am eating my own words. "Don't put it off".... I'm constantly telling clients (especially mom's) to not put off getting that family photo because you never know what tomorrow might bring. But we tend to not want to schedule it because we think our kids are at an awkward stage, we'll lose a few pounds first, or we just simply are too busy. And then there is always the fact that photo sessions with kids can be rough. They cry, whine, don't cooperate. It's enough to make you want to scream as a parent!

So today it was my family's turn. And let me tell you, we are no different at a photo session than any other family. I have been putting this off and we haven't had a family portrait since my youngest had just started to walk. I've used all the same excuses as everyone else and was still using them today, even as I had the whole thing scheduled. But I finally took my own words of advice... we needed to do it. We needed to capture those memories. So, we proceeded to get ready. The evening included tears from my son, my husband not having the right shirt, tears from my daughter, my son's jeans not fitting right, tears from my son (oh, did I already mention that), and then it led to mommy wanting to cry, yell or just plain cancel the evening. But we went out. And at the end I'm still not the weight I wanted to be, my son's jeans still were too short, but guess what?? We were all laughing and enjoying eachother, and we even got a few good shots.

I've been told quite a few times that one of the benefits of coming to a photographer like me, rather than a studio, is the time I take with a family. From helping you pick the right outfits to capturing some sort of memory even through the tears, that is my job and that is why I hope I stand out to my clients. I take the time to make it work. It may be the last picture when you have given up that turns out to be the best. We're all people trying to get that awesome photo and it's my job to work through the typical photo day that we all have and get those great, creative portraits of a family that you will want to have hanging on your wall forever.

Engagements and Weddings

What more can I say about this couple...creative, interesting, AWESOME! Every single couple that comes to me for their engagement and wedding is unique and brings their own traits to the session. Over the past few years I have met so many awesome couples. I know I may be rambling here but most people don't realize what a strong partnership a couple and their photographer need. We need a level of trust. If this happens it's a beautiful thing and the pictures show it.

This particular couple is getting married next June. Their entire wedding has a 50's theme and boy did they run with it. I gave them ideas and they came to their session prepared. A retro bike, an old apron, champagne and a blanket for a picnic...... I also found a great spot that showed off the theme well. Things clicked, like they usually do and now this couple has some great photos to show for it, photos that really tell the story of "them".

Cheers! Angie

Busy Days

Things haven't been slowing down these past few weeks. Lots of photo shoots with some great regular clients, as well as some great new faces lately too! Yorkville is starting to bloom with fall color and I'm getting so excited over some of the pictures I've been able to capture. I've also been working on a lot of great new ideas for my business which I hope all my clients are going to benefit from and enjoy.

Hope you all enjoy this photo on this crisp evening. It was a great shoot with a fun 2 year old last week!

A day of High School Senior Shoots

Today was filled with sessions, babies this morning and great high school seniors this afternoon. One of the seniors is from Coal City High School and the other from Sandwich High school. It was great getting creative and coming up with some new ways to photograph these girls.

Growth (Portraits by Angela Wright, Creative Photography, Yorkville, IL)

One of the great things about photography is getting to watch as family's grow. The kids change so much each year, weddings occur, babies are born, seniors graduate.... and on and on. Being a family photographer gives me the chance to almost feel like I am growing with the family and a small part of their life. It's also a great feeling to know you are helping capture the memories for them because we all know how fast time goes. Being a part of the Yorkville/Kendall County area is a great place to be, because there are so many great family's to get to know and I hope I can capture their memories for years to come.

Here's a sneak peak at a picture I took last week of one of those family's I am excited to know. It's my second year now capturing their memories and watching these girls grow. They are a great family to get creative with in my photography, and just a lot of fun to work with!

Enjoy-Angie

So, I just spent the last 2 hours in torture and pain at the dentist. It is one of my least favorite places. I wanted to find some crazy picture of someone in horrible horrible pain to post on here because that is what I was feeling. But instead, I'll post something happy in an attempt to bring up my spirit and because, for now, the pain is over!!!

So, here's my happy bubbles picture. Maybe it's moments like these that get us through the pains of life. And if my dentist is reading this, please do not burst my bubble and call to tell me I need to come back in for more work (: Corny, I know, maybe it's the gas talking at this point.

First Days.....

About a week ago my baby started back into pre-school. This is her picture on her first day. She's got her own style and I love it!! In some ways it's hard to believe she's already 4 and this is her last year before kindergarten, and in other ways it's hard to believe she's only 4!! So now I have a pre-schooler and a 1st grader and a little bit of time completely on my own. For all you parents embarking on this same point in time, this bit of "freedom", I think you'll understand when I label it as "bittersweet".

Here's to a great weekend! Angie

Let me bring the fall to you! Fall Sessions and Mini-Sessions booking fast!

Welcome to fall-one of my favorite seasons! I just wanted to let you all know that my sessions are booking up fast. Also, if you are worried about scheduling too early and losing out on the great fall color, don't! Check out these photos and see how I can bring the fall to your photo no matter what color the leaves are that day.

Fall sessions include 1+ hours of my time outdoors and will allow me to photograph your entire family together and individually. Fall mini-sessions are a great way to have a short 20 minute session and get a great family photo for a Christmas card or just an update to your collection. I have a few regular session days and times left. Currently, I have filled 3 days of mini sessions and have opened up some new days. The mini sessions for October 10th are booked but I do have a waiting list. October 11 has openings, as well as November 6 and 7 have openings. The mini-sessions are all done at Oswego's beautiful Hudson Park. If you are not interested in a fall photo the November dates could even be used as a winter mini-session with stockings, boots and hot cocoa. Brrrr!!! Winter is right around the corner!

Keep watching. I'll be posting about my upcoming Santa photo shoot scheduled for December 3, 4 & 5 th at Yorkville's Lighthouse Academy soon. You won't want to miss it!

Have a great day-Angie

Nothing Sweeter Than New Life

I know I just got started with blogging again, but I couldn't resist adding just one more for the night... This sweet new baby is the newest addition for a great family I photograph. It was such a joy to see them add their new baby girl to their family. And what a sweetie she was to take pictures of. Every time I work with an infant I try to come up with some new, creative way to get an awesome shot of them. This pose here might be pretty traditional for a newborn, but she worked it well and looks just gorgeous!

Sweet Dreams.... Angie

I'm back!!

After starting the blog back in June I hit a writing road block, but fall is here which means new beginnings and a new effort to keep up with this-fall also means beautiful leaves, mini-sessions, Santa being on his way and more- and with that, I'm back! I don't know about you all but my summer was crazy! My kids were off of school and we tried to pack in tons of fun, and my portrait sessions were continuous and great! I did senior sessions for Yorkville, Oswego and Sandwich, weddings in Morris, Elmhurst, Yorkville, Oakbrook, The Joliet Mansion & Dekalb, infant sessions with the new arrivals of summer, and lots of fun kids from all over who were having some fun in the sun! It all was great!

A big honor for me over the summer was taking my niece's senior photos on a visit to Missouri. This is her above in a couple of my favorite photos. She was such a great model and we had so much fun doing the pictures together. One of the best things about a portrait is that every one tells a story..... and every one captures a life..... I'm hoping to share some of those back stories with you in this blog so you can all share some of the joy I get in taking these portraits and hear some of the beauty behind the session.

Until next time..... Angie
